World Religion Day
Each year, All Souls Unitarian Universalist presents the Ralph Waldo Emerson Award to an individual or organization from the wider community who has best exemplified the Principles of Unitarian Universalism and the values of liberal religion.
The Recipient for 2001 was the Baha'i's of Shreveport for organizing the celebration of
World Religion Day..
In 2001, the Baha'i's of Shreveport, Louisiana won the award for initiating the celebration of World Religion Day in Shreveport.
Accepting the award was Frances Flournoy.
Instead of the usual Sunday service, the Bahai's of Shreveport gave a wonderful presentation on the meaning of acceptance in todays multicultural world.
The Baha'i musical group HORIZON played throughout the service and filled the sanctuary with sound and energy.
